Went to Kamakura

Topic: Everything, Life in Japan|

So I went to Yokohama, Yokosuka and Kamakura the other day. Kamakura is famous for the Daibutsu, one of the oldest if not the oldest daibutsu in Japan. Didn’t get much in the way of pictures as the lighting sucked and there were tons and tons of people.

Yokosuka was an interesting place. Lots of Japanese sailors, not as many Americans. Recently American sailors have been prohibited from leaving base due to problems with crime. On the base though it was back to usual, lots of idiocy going on by young sailor idiots. It’s interesting how the base is laid out like a normal American city, everything was huge including the apartments, then as soon as you walk off the base it becomes Japanese style again with narrow streets, buildings taking up every inch of free space, people everywhere, etc.

In other news I bought a suit so I can start working here, one of the sales girls made a mistake while writing up my receipt and gave me 1man yen discount (That’s about $100 CAD). So I walked outta there with a suit for far less than it ought to have been, woohoo. Have interviews all this week and next week. It’s getting hot, rainy season is almost over. It’s going to be brutal walking around in a suit all the time. They are mandatory for work here.
